Middle Wallop International Electric Flight Event.

If you did not come to last years event, you missed a great weekend! P roof of insurance and a minimum flying qualification of a relevant "A" Certificate is required for this event.

This year’s event will again commemorate Colonel H. J. Taplin world’s first officially recorded R/C electric model flight on the 30th June 1957.  He used his seven year old R/C Radio Queen prototype.  Motive power was from a 24v government surplus Emerson motor & 25 silver/zinc cells.  On the Sunday it is hoped to hold competition for the Exide & Drydex trophy for the best flown electric powered Radio Queen. This beats Fred Militky of Graupner fame, who first achieved a successful flight with a F/F model in October 1957.

August

21st

Woodspring Wings E-Fly, Yatton nr Clevedon, Bristol, Somerset.  This event is a more relaxed day than our larger show in July, where you can mingle and catch up with the latest developments in electric powered aircraft.  We would describe it as as much a fly-in with interested visitors rather than a show.  In 2010 we had approximately 500 visitors.  It it always attracts many well known names in the electric world as well as local enthusiasts, and is supported by a handful of traders who mainly specialise in electric models and products.  A full programme is planned with continuous model flying throughout the day, from 10.00am - 5.00pm.  Proof of BMFA insurance and "A" cert required.  More info http://www.woodspringwings.co.uk/index.html ot contact Gary Blinco via email gary@blinco.co.uk
